Polar Bears are Endangered by The Impact of Willow Project

The willow project is a large-scale oil exploration in North Slope Borough, Alaska, which will have an impact on the destruction of polar bear habitat

The Willow project was approved by President Joe Biden on March 13, 2022. This has sparked widespread public controversy because it is considered to be disturbing the native habitat of polar bears. Polar bears are often called ice bears or in their scientific name Ursus maritimus are large mammals in the biological family Ursidae that eat meat.

Most polar bears live in the Arctic Circle, namely at the North Pole, but there are several populations that live south of the Arctic Circle, namely in Hudson Bay, Canada. Early in the season as the ice begins to melt, polar bears have less time to eat and produce.

The Willow project will disrupt Polar bear's habitat because oil drilling will cause massive melting of ice and rising temperatures in Antarctica. This will interfere with the survival of polar bears and the possibility of extinction will occure.
