Crocodile is a wild animal that belongs carnivorous or meat-eating animal. However, this animal has an odd and unique habit of swallowing gravel.

This strange habit of crocodiles who like to swallow gravel has two purposes. The first purpose is that the swallowed gravel are used for body weight. As we know, crocodiles are amphibians that usually live in water and on land. When they are diving in waters, crocodiles look for prey by submerging their bodies and raising their heads partially above the surface of the water. When going to do this position, crocodiles usually find it difficult to sink their bodies so they have to swallow gravel to submerge their half bodies.

The second purpose is that the gravel swallowed by the crocodile is used to help the digestive process. Crocodiles usually swallow their prey in whole. This interferes with their digestive process because their digestion cannot digest these whole foods properly. Therefore, crocodiles swallow gravels to help digest the food. According to the Miami Science Museum, the gravel acts as a gastrolith or 'teeth' in the digestion of crocodiles.

Crocodiles have an average length of 3.5m - 6m and an average weight of 1,075kg. Even though they have a large body, who would have thought that crocodiles like to cry. This animal often cry to reduce the salt levels in their bodies. Salt that is in the body is usually excreted through tears.

Crocodiles is belong to oviparus animals. Usually, they live in river, lake, amd swamps. This animal is crowned as the biggest reptile in the world. Specifically, the biggest crocodile in the world is Estuarina saltwater crocodile that has average length of 8-9meters.
